Classroom Management

An effective classroom management plan is crucial for maximum student learning. A classroom with a successful plan would display an environment rich with structure, enthusiams, and repect. This fully maximizes the potential for students to feel comfortable and safe in their learning environe,tm. Here are some of the requirements for my classroom management plan.

Organization
  • Keeping the room organized improves the flow of the day and allows for smooth transitions.
  • The teacher and the students will always know where things belong and where things can be found
  • Organization elliminated confusion that occurs in disorderly environments
  • A room should be student-self-sufficient. This means, the students will be able to use the room to its full potential and this can only happen in a well organized environment.

Expectations
  • Respect! Treat others the way you would want to be treated!
  • Students must strive to do their personal best at all times—I never wan't to hear the phrase, “I can't.”
  • Students are required to bring the required materials (pencil, paper, book, etc..) to class each day in order to maximize learning potential.
  • I expect students to be kind to each other and support all learners and questions and they can expect that I will do the same.

Atmosphere
  • Once students exit the hall and enter my classroom, a positive learning atmosphere will ensue. I want all students to feel welcomed and at ease in my classroom.
  • A warm and interactive atmosphere creates a comofortable learning environment for students.
  • Positive comments will be used to ensure a feeling of safety for the students.
  • Having a room full of examples of work, maps, and artifacts from around the world will increase creativity and student involvement. Posters, quotes, books, and pictures will be readily avalible for student inspiration.

Purpose of Learning
  • Students will understand and respect social studies.
  • Students will apply social studies to real life applications while achieving the goals set forth by the State content standards.
  • Students will explore how social studies can guide their thinking about issues in their society and lives.
  • Students will explore how they can apply historical events and lessons to their own community on a localized and modern level.
  • Students will gain knowledge and understanding of learning history as a continum.
  • Students will be able to identify and respect many different forms of the social studies including: geography, civcs, political science, sociology, and history.

Behavior Modification
  • STEP 1-The student will be given a verbal warning to stop the behavior
  • STEP 2-The student will be pulled aside and spoken to.
  • STEP 3-The student will be given appropriate punishment (lunch detention, after school detention etc...) and contact will be made with their parent or gaurdian.
  • STEP 4-Administrative action will be taken. Weather in form of sending a student to the office or writing a referral.
  • These are the general rules that will apply in my classroom that will have to be modified according to school policy and sometimes, situations. Some circumstances could mean skipping or modifying steps. All comments that will be given to the student will be in the form of positive suggestions of behavior modification.
